TheFleasKneesFund: One giant leap for dogkind
When it comes to pet ownership, countless animals draw the short stick and end up with twits for owners. Subjected to abuse, malnutrition, sickness, or being carted around like a tote until the next dog-du-jour comes along, these animals can lead pathetic — disposable — lives. In fact, the World Society for the Protection of Animals estimates there are 600,000,000 (for zero-a-phobes, that's 600-million) unwanted dogs globally.
As responsible dog owners and lovers, it is up to us to act on behalf of these little dudes. We need to pool our resources, our voices, and our power. So that we can direct funds to the rescue groups who need them. And so that animal welfare laws will stop being the punch line to some joke.
How can we help you?
If you are a part of — or are aware of — a no-kill animal rescue organization that could benefit from TheFleasKneesFund, please contact us to be considered for donation. (Donations can either come in the form of funding, food, and/or supplies.)
Check out the people we love to love.
Palz aren’t bling.
Hoop earrings, rock-star stilettos, a snappy new purse. Those are accessories. Our dogs? Not so much. If you are looking to adopt a decade-long-plus companion, check out your local shelter or PetFinder.com. Do not — like, seriously do not — “buy” your new friend from a pet store. That, dear DogMom, is the number one no-no of the FleaGirlz. For more on pet stores and the puppy mill industry, check this out (540 KB PDF).
That's why partial proceeds from every tee sold go directly to TheFleasKneesFund. Those funds are handed over to help support the work of well-researched, no-kill animal rescue groups in Canada, across North America, and around the globe. And $5 from every PuppyMillsBite tee goes to Best Friends’ Animal Society’s Puppies Aren’t Products campaign.
It’s not enough to just be ridiculously hot-looking DogMoms. We need to be ridiculously hot-looking DogMoms who no longer stand for ridiculously-twit-ish twits. And that’s just all there is to it.
To see firsthand why there is a FleasKneesFund, and to see the work of one of the groups we support, watch this happy-ending video. (Have Kleenex nearby.)
